Gordon Rorrison

Gordon is an independent consultant and executive advisor with over 36 years’ experience in asset management, production operations, and major capital projects across the energy sector. He has held senior leadership roles with Chevron, BG Group, Nexen/CNOOC and Waldorf Production.

He has extensive experience of working in complex joint ventures (JVs) and combines strong analytical capability with well-developed stakeholder management, influencing and team-building skills.

Highlights include:

  • Asset and hub leadership: Over a decade in North Sea asset management and operations leadership roles. Provided leadership to multi-functional teams spanning onshore and offshore operations, subsurface, and business services.
  • Strategy implementation: Led the development and implementation of asset and JV hub strategies, with a particular focus on late-life assets.
  • Stage Gate Processes: In-depth experience working with Stage Gate processes including assurance and decision-support activities.
  • Operated-by-others: Responsible for the management and performance of non-operated interests across the UK Continental Shelf.
  • Major capital projects: Over 20 years’ experience in engineering and engineering management roles at Chevron in the UK and the US, including the Britannia JV and offshore developments in Angola and the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. He later held Engineering Manager roles at BG Group, including in Norway on a new-build FPSO.
  • Trusted advisor: Worked closely with executive teams on complex operational and project management challenges, including an operatorship transition offshore Brazil, decommissioning readiness for North Sea assets, and project management assurance for a top-tier COMAH agrochemical plant upgrade.

Gordon holds a BEng in Chemical Engineering from Strathclyde University and a Master’s degree in Process Safety and Loss Prevention from the University of Sheffield. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
