Jan Paul is a co-founder of StrategicFit.

He specialises in developing strategies in highly uncertain situations where there are often conflicting perspectives.  He has particular expertise in multi-billion-dollar energy investment decisions and designing effective decision processes.

He has supported clients in most aspects of the energy life-cycle, in conventional, unconventional and renewable energy sources. Recent assignments include:

• Designing and implementing a corporate carbon management system for a supermajor.
• Creating a strategy for a regional redevelopment program worth tens of billions of dollars.
• Formulating the use of leading technology such as Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG), carbon capture and storage, and enhanced oil recovery.
• Helping to align a partnership to re-develop a world-class exploration and production asset.
• Supporting the Troll partnership in the Troll Future Development decision-making process.

Jan Paul is recognised for his incisive analysis and industry perspective. Together with his ability to generate creative alternatives and enable alignment, these have enabled him to open up significant opportunities for teams and entire organisations.

Jan Paul has also consulted in many other industries, such as high tech and manufacturing, where innovation, flexibility, and market differentiation enable value creation.

Jan Paul often speaks at industry conferences and serves on company advisory boards. He was Vice President Consulting at Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA / IHS). Before that, he was a Board Member and practice Partner at Strategic Decisions Group (SDG) with responsibility for oil and gas.  Before joining SDG, he worked in a number of international line management assignments at Shell.

Jan Paul holds an MSc from the Technical University of Delft in the Netherlands, and an MBA from the City University Business School in London.  He is a Fellow of the Society of Decision Professionals.

He was also a navigation officer in the Dutch navy.
