Ian Sollom

Ian is an Associate Consultant at StrategicFit. He has worked on a number of analytically complex projects involving the development of forecasting tools for energy companies.

As part of this work, Ian has modelled the profile of a number of production streams taking into account the hydrocarbon and water constraints existing within the evacuation system. His work also involves liaising with technical experts to evaluate methods of optimising energy production.

He has a Physics PhD from Trinity College, Cambridge University where he specialised in the application of powerful ‘Bayesian’ statistical methods to cosmology, in particular to the cosmic microwave background radiation. In doing so he:

  • Developed and refined software to simulate physical processes and perform statistical analyses of cosmological data.
  • Published several refereed papers shedding light on advanced cosmological models.
  • Uncovered several errors in previously published and accepted works.

Ian brings the same analytical rigour to his work for StrategicFit.

Whilst at Cambridge he has also taken part in many additional activities including:

  • Working as part of a team tasked with putting forward and investigating potential applications for a new semi-conductor technology (with the team recommendation now being developed as a start-up by the inventor).
  • Training in Wing Chun Kung Fu, and working as an instructor for children’s and youth classes.
  • Learning Mandarin Chinese through the University Language Centre.

Ian also holds a first class MPhys from St. Hugh’s College, Oxford University where he was a T.W. Fowle Scholar.
