Ian has worked on multiple analytically complex projects in the energy sector, and supported organisations making strategic investment decisions in challenging regulatory environments.
Examples of his work include:
- Bringing joint venture partners together to create a shared asset strategy and approach to high stake government negotiations.
- Developing a strategic roadmap to extend the life of an ageing North Sea infrastructure complex, quantifying the risks and opportunities of alternative routes to decommissioning.
- Supporting a supermajor to model the forecast profile of a number of production streams, taking into account the hydrocarbon and water constraints existing within the evacuation system.
- Helping a large independent oil company evaluate risks and trade-offs for options extending an FPSO lease, given the outcome of nearby exploration. Delivered a clear decision roadmap to support ongoing asset decisions.
Ian has a Physics PhD from Cambridge University. Ian’s research also formed the basis of a new method determining the speed of the Earth in the universe used by the Planck satellite collaboration.
