Glyn Jones
Glyn Jones, a Principal, has 33 years of international experience primarily with ConocoPhillips companies spanning the Upstream Life Cycle. His various roles provide him with a valuable combination of practical and strategic perspectives of realising value from upstream oil and gas assets.
His extensive career has included managing the planning and delivery of a range of exploration, appraisal and development projects. Glyn has particular expertise in integrated field development planning and effective Project Management of large capital investments. He also has extensive experience of working with Stakeholders, gaining Corporate investment approvals as well as risk management. Based in Dubai since 2009, Glyn is engaged in oil and gas consultancy work for both local and European based clients. His executive positions whilst at ConocoPhillips included:
2007-2009 – General Manager of North Sea Capital Projects responsible for a portfolio of projects in Norway and the UK including the next phase of investment in Greater Ekofisk
2004 to 2007 – Manager – Project Services in the Houston Corporate HQ where he led development of the companies Project Management Systems and also ran the multidiscipline Corporate Due Diligence process on Upstream investment proposals. During 2004-5 he was the leader of the first two Project Delivery Assurance reviews of the Kashagan development on behalf of the Partners
1998 to 2003 – Exploration and Development Manager in Caracas where he oversaw the discovery of the large Corocoro oil and gas field in the Orinoco Delta carefully managing Venezuela’s complex stakeholder setting to bring forward the first privately operated development since nationalization in the 70’s
Prior to this Glyn held various operations, field development, exploration and strategic roles in several locations including Norway, UK, USA and Japan. He has had key roles in development projects like the Heidrun TLP in Norway and also was responsible for Conoco’s first FPSO developments in the North sea in the mid 90’s. His diverse background has also included cross functional roles such as being Conoco UK’s HR Manager for 2 years.
Glyn holds an MA degree in Mechanical Sciences from Clare College, Cambridge University in the UK, an MBA from Henley Management College and is also a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers
